League of Women Voters guide is at Vote411.org

-

EARLY VOTING has begun. Absentee ballots are in the mail. But COVID-19 has made it difficult for candidates to run traditional campaigns and for voters to attend public forums or to obtain nonpartisan information about those candidates.

For decades the League of Women Voters of New Mexico, through its four local leagues around the state, has proudly provided New Mexico voters with nonpartisan voter guides for general elections. This year, for the first time, the league is offering an expanded online guide for the primary election. Vote411.org is free and easy to use. It requires that an individual enter an address in order to access information on candidates appearing on that individual’s ballot.

The information includes photos and answers to league questions on qualifications and issues. Voter411.org covers federal, state and legislative races for the entire state. In the seven counties served by local leagues — Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, Valencia and Doña Ana — all the local races are covered as well.

The league and its volunteers are dedicated to encouraging informed and active participation in the political process. It is our hope that during the current health crisis, when the public is staying at home, Vote411.org will provide an important public service.
