A man is behind bars after deputies say he shot and killed a man in Southwest Albuquerque early Tuesday morning.

Nick Danielson, 41, is charged with an open count of murder in the death of 66-year-old David Boros.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court:

Deputies responded around midnight to a shooting in the 3100 block of Lisa SW, near Coors and Gun Club. They found Boros shot in the chest outside a mobile home and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Boros’ roommate told deputies someone knocked on their front door and he went with Boros to answer it. He said a man at the door “exchanged words” with Boros before Boros told him to get off their property.

The roommate said the man threatened to shoot and Boros replied “well then do it” before the man grabbed a gun from a vehicle and shot Boros. A woman at Boros’ home told deputies she heard Boros tell someone “leave her alone” and “get off my property” before she heard a gunshot.

The woman said she ran outside to see Danielson, a man who has been stalking her and “refuses to leave her alone,” and he told her “Denise I didn’t do it” before driving off in a red vehicle.

Danielson was arrested hours later at his home and told deputies he went to the house to speak to the woman. He said he shot Boros because he thought she was being kidnapped and screaming for help.

Danielson told deputies he “wasn’t thinking straight” and just went home, taking the gun apart and throwing pieces out the window on his way. Deputies were not able to find the handgun parts but Danielson told them he had a dozen more guns in his car and several in his home.
