THERE IS A PUSH

to rename the Washington Redskins. Most of my Native American friends are Redskins fans, not because they live in Washington, because it’s a team they can identify with, and most hate the Dallas Cowboys. Which is another team that needs to have its name changed, the Dallas Cowboys! As in, Cowboys and Indians, a game played by most children, but now has serious racist connotations. Might I suggest the Dallas Bluebonnets? Then in ten years people will be asking why there aren’t more team names honoring more ethnic groups. — I think I’ll start kneeling now.

SO NOW WE HAVE

to wear masks for sports. Big difference between team sports and individual/dual sports. Sports like tennis, golf, cycling, walking, pickle ball, etc are played outdoors and you are by yourself or with 3 other people max. Is NM United going to play with masks and self quarantine when they get back from CO? What around all those baseball/softball club teams that have traveled for tournaments? MLG need to do some research before making blanket rules regarding COVID. Too many double standards that are not fair.

nor Mike Roberts ever received their promised statues at the Pit’s main entrance. At least we have Bob King Court inside the building. However, with UNM’s named Onate Hall being gone and Coronado Hall probably soon to follow, how about Mike Roberts Hall for his approximate 40 years of play-by-play of UNM football and basketball games. The other dorm should be called Joe Boehning Hall in honor of the underappreciated architect of the unique Pit, which for an original $1.4 million cost has given New Mexicans entertainment and memories for over a half-century.
