New Mexico reports 210 new cases, 9 deaths

Bernalillo County records 68 new COVID-19 cases

New Mexico recorded 210 additional cases of COVID-19 and nine deaths related to the virus in an update Saturday afternoon, bringing the statewide total to 20,796 and 651 deaths.

Governor’s Office spokeswoma­n Nora Meyers Sackett in a news release said all but one of those who died had underlying conditions.

They were:

■ A man and two women, in their 70s, 80s and 90s, respective­ly, from Bernalillo County. The man was a resident of Princeton Place facility, while the women were residents of Spanish Trails Rehabilita­tion Suites, both based in Albuquerqu­e.

■ Two men, in their 50s and 80s, from Doña Ana County. One man was a resident of Welbrook Senior Living in Las Cruces.

■ A man in his 70s from Eddy County.

■ A man in his 60s from Lea County who had no underlying conditions.

■ A woman in her 70s from McKinley County.

■ A man in his 70s from San Juan County. The new cases include 68 from Bernalillo County; 21 in Lea County; 15 each in Chaves and Santa Fe counties; 14 in Sandoval County; 11 each in Doña Ana and McKinley counties; eight in Curry County; five each in Eddy and San Juan counties; three each in Cibola, Hidalgo and Valencia counties; two each in Lincoln, Luna, Roosevelt, Taos and Union counties; and one each in Grant, Otero, Rio Arriba and Sierra counties.

There were also 13 new cases among federal inmates at the Cibola County Correction­al Center and one new case among federal inmates at the Otero County Prison Facility.

Meyers Sackett said there are 134 people currently hospitaliz­ed with the virus. Of those, 31 are on ventilator­s. She said 8,286 cases of COVID-19 have been designated as recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.
