DENVER — LOS ANGELES — Walker Buehler struck out 11 over six sharp innings in his best outing of the shortened season, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers past the slumping Colorado Rockies 5-1 on Friday night.

The Dodgers (20-8) earned their ninth victory in 10 games and became the first team in the majors to win 20 this season. Every player in the Los Angeles lineup got a hit except Austin Barnes, although the catcher had an RBI with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Buehler (1-0) gave up four hits on 92 pitches in his fifth start of the season and didn’t issue a walk in going past five innings for the first time. The right-hander was coming off his worst outing of the year. He gave up five runs (four earned) and six hits in 4⅔ innings against the Angels last weekend.

But on this night Buehler turned a corner, challenging hitters and putting the ball in good spots. He retired the first 11 batters he faced. Charlie Blackmon, the majors’ leading hitter at .420, ripped a two-out single to center field in the fourth for the Rockies’ first hit.

BLUE JAYS 6, RAYS 5 (10): In St. Petersburg, Fla., Cavan Biggio and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. each drove in a run during the 10th inning to help Toronto win its sixth consecutive game.

Biggio knocked in Brandon Drury from second to start the 10th with a double off Tampa Bay’s Aaron Loup (3-1). Biggio went to third on a sacrifice bunt before Gurriel hit a sacrifice fly as the Blue Jays went up 6-4.

Thomas Hatch (1-0) worked a scoreless ninth for his first major league win.

WHITE SOX 10, CUBS 1: In Chicago, Jose Abreu hit two home runs and the surging Chicago White Sox went deep six times to back Dallas Keuchel in a romp over the crosstown Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The White Sox (16-11) pounded Jon Lester and matched a season high with their sixth straight win.

They moved five games above .500 for the first time since they were 27-22 in 2016.

TIGERS 10, INDIANS 5: In Cleveland, rookie Isaac Paredes hit a grand slam for his first major league homer as Detroit snapped a 20-game losing streak against Cleveland.

The Tigers also ended a ninegame slide that included being swept at home last weekend by the Indians.

BRAVES 11, PHILLIES 2: In Atlanta, Marcell Ozuna homered twice and drove in four runs as Atlanta roughed up Aaron Nola and Philadelphia.

Travis d’Arnaud and Ozuna hit back-to-back homers off Nola in a four-run third inning. D’Arnaud, who drove in three runs, and Ozuna each got three hits.

MARLINS 3, NATIONALS 2: In Washington, Miguel Rojas hit a three-run homer in his first atbat after being activated from the COVID-19 injured list as Miami snapped a five-game skid by beating Washington.

Rojas connected in the second inning against Patrick Corbin (2-2), and that was all Miami needed to take the opener of a fivegame series. Rojas hadn’t played since July 26, when the Marlins’ season was suspended amid a team-wide coronavirus outbreak. ROYALS 7, TWINS 2: In Kansas City, Mo., Jorge Soler hit a threerun homer in the first inning, and Kansas City beat Minnesota to open a third straight weekend series between AL Central rivals.

Hunter Dozier added a two-run shot and finished with three RBIs as Kansas City won for the sixth time in its last seven games at Kauffman Stadium. Whit Merrifield had two hits and drove in a run.

RED SOX 8, ORIOLES 5: In Baltimore, Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez homered to provide Boston an early lead as the Red Sox defeated Baltimore for their season-high third straight victory.

Bogaerts hit a solo shot off John Means (0-2) in the second inning and Martinez connected for a tworun homer in the third. Rafael Devers added a three-run drive to make 6-0 in the fifth.

PIRATES 7, BREWERS 2: In Pittsburgh, Chad Kuhl pitched five effective innings for his first win in more than two years as Pittsburgh rolled by Milwaukee.

Kuhl (1-1) gave up a long solo home run to Ben Gamel in the second but otherwise kept the Brewers at bay to pick up his first victory since June 15, 2018. Kuhl missed the second half of 2018 and all of 2019 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

REDS 4, CARDINALS 2: In St. Louis, pinch-hitter Matt Davidson delivered a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning as Cincinnati beat St. Louis.

Davidson drove a 2-0 pitch from Tyler Webb to left field and into the Cincinnati bullpen. It was his third home run of the season, his second career grand slam and his first pinch-hit homer.

MARINERS 7, RANGERS 4: In Seattle, rookie Kyle Lewis hit a solo home run and former waiver wire pickup Nick Margevicius matched his career high with seven strikeouts as Seattle beat Texas.

Lewis’ sixth homer in the second inning put the Mariners up 5-0 after Seattle batted around in the first against Kolby Allard (0-2).
