Trump is no ally of Hispanic community

THE FORMER lieutenant governor who served in a failed administration wants us to forget all the things Trump has said about Hispanics. He paints a glowing picture of what Trump has done for Hispanics. As a Hispanic born and raised in New Mexico, with my family having lived in New Mexico for generations, I had a very strong response to the (Aug. 15) piece, and it was not kind.

Does (John Sanchez) really believe that we Hispanics/Latinos in this country think that Trump is an ally of the Hispanic community? Let me see; he has called (some) of Mexican descent rapists and murderers. He has killed hundreds of Hispanics with his failed COVID-19 response. He is keeping young adults who were brought here as children in limbo as he tries to destroy the DACA program.

The former lieutenant governor cites ... numbers relating to how well economically Hispanics are doing under the Trump administration. Does he speak about the evictions and jobs they are losing because of the administration’s failed response to COVID-19?

Former Vice President Joe Biden has been a friend of the Hispanic community for many years . ... The former lieutenant governor must think as his president does, that we are not smart enough to know when racist remarks are made by Trump toward all minorities and Hispanics particularly. He thinks we will just sit back and take it. Enough is enough; (Sanchez) will be disappointed ... when he sees a large number of Hispanics voting for Biden and Kamala Harris.
