New Mexico firefighte­rs head to California

Firefighte­rs from New Mexico are headed to California to help fight the wildfires, the state Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management said Wednesday.

It’s the second mobilizati­on this year in response to the wildfires there.

“The New Mexico Task Force departed from Albuquerqu­e Fire and Rescue’s Training Academy Wednesday morning with six engines and crews,” the agency said in a news release.

AFR Capt. Brian Fox is the assigned leader of the task force, which includes a total of 20 firefighte­rs and resources from fire department­s in Albuquerqu­e, Bernalillo County, Los Alamos County and Corrales.
