“MONSTERLAND”
(Hulu, Friday, Oct. 2) Based on Nathan Ballingrud’s book “North American Lake Monsters,” this psychohorror, eight-episode anthology series explores the different sorts of monsters that show up in people’s lives, often in the form of other people. Kaitlyn Dever (“Unbelievable”) starts things off with the story of a struggling single mom in rural Louisiana whose encounter with a creepy stranger in the diner where she works as a waitress leads to a surprising decision. Other episodes feature Taylor Schilling (“Orange Is the New Black”) and Kelly Marie Tran from the recent round of “Star Wars.”
