SPORTS SPEAK UP!

I AM A STAUNCH NM Democrat, however, it is getting more difficult since we have officially lost our minds - making the UNM football team practice in another state, canceling games, moving games, all to abide with the Gov.’s draconian and perhaps political measures. ( She will be offered a position with the new administration anyways.) Masks, social distancing, no big crowds are a must, but, let all these teams play, including high school and youth teams. Every other state is “carefully” playing these games at all levels, and we may be living with ( COVID-19) for another year or two. — KB

WHAT BETTER WAY to kept UNM athletic budget on track than to take 100 plus people on a week(s) long stay in Las Vegas.

THIS PAST SUMMER, Gov. Lujan Grisham wrote to NCAA President Mark Emmert, suggesting that college football not be allowed to proceed for the upcoming season. Well, that didn’t happen. And her double standard allowing New Mexico United to go about its business has created a firestorm. Apparently UNM President Garnett Stokes and Athletic Director Eddie Nuñez have seen enough, becoming the only university in America to relocate its football program to another state. Viva Las Vegas and after getting nasal swabbed three times a week, the Lobos deserve a trip to Hawaii. Aloha.

LET ME GET this straight: UNM cancels its game against CSU but Eddie Nuñez tells media “we could have played.” Now, UNM will relocate to Las Vegas for the remainder of the season and play from there? (Nuñez) is just a series of expensive blunders. Does Coach G know what he’s in for?

IT’S OFFICIAL: Jack Nicklaus has consumed one too many Arnold Palmers. Poor Jack, or is it pour Jack. — tarheelbill

COUNTING DOWN, Everyday we look forward to The New Mexico Bowl. That’ll Be the Day when Michelle allows the game to be played in New Mexico. Rumor has it that this Christmas Eve game is moving to Texas. Oh, Boy, could it be just down the highway? I’m glad I didn’t put Lubbock, Texas in My Rear View Mirror just yet. I hope to attend and maybe also take Peggy Sue to Prairie Dog Town. I Guess I Was Just a Fool to think that the game would be played in Albuquerque. For now, anyway, this bowl game Ain’t Got No Home.
