Ellen Y. Myers
Ellen Y. Myers passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the age of 84. Ellen was born in Lancaster, Ohio to
Roy and Velma Yoder. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sam and David Sims, grandchildren Emily and Jason Sims, brothers George and Richard (Jeanne), and many, many other family and friends who truly adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Milo G. Myers. Ellen graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS in Nursing and entered the US Air Force in 1958. She served at locations in Texas, Germany and Greece. She met her husband Milo while both were stationed with the Air Force in Athens, Greece where they were married, and Sam was born. At that time women were not allowed to stay in the military after becoming pregnant and still wanting to stay in, she refused discharge forcing the Air Force to pay her a nice settlement to get out. As a family they traveled the world to various stations until his retirement at the rank of LtCol in 1984. The family settled in Albuquerque and she returned to work as a staff nurse at the US Air Force Hospital at Kirtland Air Force Base for 11 years allowing her to retire with a combined 20 years of government service. Milo and Ellen lived at the La Vida Llena Retirement Community since 2007 where they enjoyed the full life and made many friends. Most recently Ellen was a resident of the Mi Casa Memory Care unit. The Family would like to thank all the staff of Mi Casa for their many years of love and care. Additionally, the family wishes to thank her Hospice nurses from Ambercare Hospice for their extra care when the time called for it.
