Michael ("Mike") John Gannon

Michael (“Mike”) John Gannon, age 61, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 in Dallas, TX. He was born on April 20, 1959, in Midland, TX and grew up in Wichita Falls, TX and Hobbs, NM. He attended New Mexico State University (NMSU) in Las Cruces, NM and received his B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineerin­g. At NMSU, he met his wife and the love of his life, Maureen, and they enjoyed 37 wonderful years of marriage. After graduation, Mike and Maureen moved to Denver, Colorado, to work at Rocky Flats. In 1987, they relocated to Albuquerqu­e, NM, where Mike was employed at Ethicon, Intel and most recently, Sandia National Laboratori­es. Along the way, Mike and Maureen had three sons, John (girlfriend Alexya Williams), Robert (wife Kaitlyn Gannon and son Henry) and Eric. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, John and Florene Gannon, brother, Larry Gannon, and sister, Patricia Hughes. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his sisters, Tess Johnson, Kay Cunnane, Sheila Harris, and brother, Brendan Gannon. He is also survived by his precious nephews and nieces and numerous in-laws who loved him like a brother. He leaves behind many close friends. Mike was a man of faith and a wonderful husband, father, brother, brotherin-law, uncle, grandfathe­r and friend who was generous in spirit, and in life. His greatest joy was being a father and grandfathe­r, and spending time with his sons on the golf course. Mike was a lifelong member of and a volunteer with the Catholic Church and active in the ARCA Foundation, among others. He was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. A Mass of Thanksgivi­ng for Mike’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on January 18, 2021 at St. Jude’s Chapel in Dallas. Interment and a reception will take place this summer in Albuquerqu­e where friends and family will gather to celebrate a life well-lived. The family would like to thank Dr. David E. Gerber and the wonderful nurses and doctors at UTSW Medical Center in Dallas for caring for Mike during this past year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ARCA Foundation in Albuquerqu­e or St. Jude’s Chapel in Dallas. Mike will be forever missed and always in our hearts.
