-

Stanley Law Goodwin, 89, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on December 28, 2020, with his wife of 65 years at his side. Stan was born in White Plains, NY, on April 8, 1931, and married the love of his life Ann Denison Davis in Bronxville, NY in 1955. Stan led a wonderful life filled with fun, family and service.

After graduating from Bronxville High in 1949, Stan attended the University of Michigan then earned his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. He then served 4 years as an officer and doctor in the US Navy stationed at Yokosuka, Japan. After the Navy, Stan completed his residency in general surgery and began a successful career as a General Surgeon, first in beautiful Bucks County PA where he and Ann raised their 3 kids, and later in the mountains near Lancaster, NH. While raising their kids, Ann and Stan took many wonderful trips with friends and family always including fun activities such as skiing, swimming, and canoeing.

When Stan was 54, he closed his medical practice in northern New Hampshire and embarked on a new and exciting 12-year career in the US Air Force. He ultimately acquired the rank of Colonel, USAF, earned his wings, and served with distinction as a surgeon and then later as Commander of medical staff at base hospitals in Albuquerque, Alaska, New York, and lastly in Tucson,

Arizona.

During his retirement years in Tucson, when he wasn’t taking care of Ann’s expansive flower gardens, he enjoyed many visits with his kids, grandkids, and other family and friends around the country. Stan loved to listen to jazz and classical music on his fancy “HiFi”, smoke cigars, and read books; and he could often be found doing all three at once, with great pleasure! He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid tennis player who stayed on the court until he was 80.

Stan will be remembered for being hard-working in his career, honest and genuine with everyone he met, and always fun and loving with family and friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his mother Mary Lamper Law, his stepfather Homer Stanley Goodwin, and his sister Helen Renfrew Manning. He is survived by his wife Ann Davis Goodwin, his son Stanley, Jr. (Cheryl) of Kansas City, his son Brad (Robin) of Albuquerque, and his daughter Carlee (Jay) of Charlottesville, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lindsey (Mark), Alison (Eric), Jack (Jaclyn), Tommy (Sarah), Annie, Claire, and Audrey, his great grandson Carson, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the kind people at The Montebello on Academy for helping to care for Stan during his last years in Albuquerque. A private family service will be held on a later date.
