Louise Stambaugh

Louise Moore Stambaugh, 98, a resident of Albuquerqu­e was called home to be with her Lord on Monday, March 29, 2021. Louise was born Monday, September 11, 1922 in Socorro, NM. She lived in the mining town of Hagen, NM and moved to Albuquerqu­e in 1928. She graduated from Albuquerqu­e High School in 1939 and attended the University of New Mexico. Louise married Maurice Stambaugh in 1940 and dedicated herself to raising their family of five sons.

Louise’s passions were her family, her friends, and her church. She was a longtime member of Faith Chapel in Albuquerqu­e and spent over 65 years teaching Sunday School to teenage boys in the church.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, William Irvin and Gladys Nesbitt Moore; her stepmother, Ida Visser Moore; husband, Maurice Stambaugh; sons, Les (Heather) of Palm Springs, CA and Brian (Wendy) of Wickenburg, AZ; sister, Barbara; and brothers, Horace and Donald.

She is survived by her sons, Berry (Skip) of Carlsbad, NM, Stan of Banning,

CA, and Mark (Suzan) of Chicago, IL; her niece and ”adopted daughter”, Susan Langham, who lovingly cared for Louise the last years of her life; 10 grandchild­ren; 16 great-grandchild­ren; 11 great-great-grandchild­ren; one niece; and two nephews.

Louise was a funny, passionate, and caring woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Due to COVID 19 restrictio­ns, there will be no visitation or service and burial will be private, with Reverend Bill Culbertson officiatin­g. A gathering for all family and friends commemorat­ing Louise’s life will be held this summer as soon as the COVID restrictio­ns permit. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributi­ons be made to Faith Chapel, 1726 Girard NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87106.
