Timothy R. Dzierba
Timothy Rodger Dzierba died on March 9, 2021 at the Raymond G. Murphy Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Tweedy), his daughter, Amy L. Dzierba of NYC, and stepchildren, Kristine L Szumada Cochran (James), Rebecca J Szumada Ross (Timothy), Amanda R Szumada, Jonathan K Szumada (Kirsten), Matthew R Szumada, and Marissa J Szumada. He is also survived by his brother, Alexander R. (Linda), and sister, Sharon, and nephews and niece. He was preceded in death by his parents Alexander P. and Charlotte Dzierba.
Tim was born in Buffalo, NY on September 5, 1946. He lived in the Buffalo area until retiring to Albuquerque NM in 2015. He graduated from Canisius College History Department in 1968 and shortly joined the Army for two years, serving in the Vietnam
War, with honorable discharge in 1970. He completed his Masters of Arts in History at State University College at Buffalo in 1972, and his PhD in History at State University of New York at Buffalo in 1983.
Tim taught at Medaille College from 1972-2014, became tenured professor in 1979 and served as Academic Chairman in several positions. His broad professional expertise, interests, and life experiences were awarded many honors as guest speaker for WGRZ News (Buffalo) interviews, and prestigious seminar participations held in Berlin Germany (1992), Oxford England (2006) and Amman Jordan (2004).
The family wants to thank the Dialysis Team at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque for the treatment and comfort they gave to Tim during his physical struggles. Donations can be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
