SF ANIMAL SHELTER & HUMANE SOCIETY

Princess is a lovely 5-year-old mixed-breed girl who is looking for a second chance. She has been at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter since late last year patiently waiting for the right family.

Princess is a sweet pup, affectionate (yes, she is a hugger) and enjoys leash walks. She currently weighs around 55 pounds.

If you are interested in meeting this sweetie, please go online and schedule an appointment; you won’t regret bringing home this princess.

Hugs is a beautiful 4-year-old domestic shorthaired female cat who currently weighs 10 pounds. During her stay with us, Hugs has shown herself to be very friendly and loves to “talk” with people. Hugs would really like to find a quiet place to settle in and call home, spending her days napping and cuddling with her favorite person. If you would like to meet Hugs, please schedule an appointment.

These and other animals are available for adoption from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours during the pandemic are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and are by appointment only. Call 983-4309 ext. 1610 or email: Adoption@ SFHumaneSociety.org to schedule an appointment to see these cute pets or the many others looking for a forever home.

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter is continuing its virtual training classes, with online courses aimed at both puppies and adult dogs. Whether you’re training a new puppy or teaching your old dog new tricks, experts agree that sooner is better. Adopters who have recently adopted a puppy or an older dog can attend several virtual training classes that will be held online via Zoom. The cost is $200 for six onehour courses and there is a $50 special discount if you adopted from any animal shelter or rescue.

“The Puppy Life Skills” class, beginning April 18, will focus on basic good manners, including sitting, waiting, paying attention, walking on a leash and more. Meanwhile, “Essential Life Skills,” with one class starting April 3 and another on April 12, is designed for adolescent and adult dogs.

To register for these or other training classes, visit SFHumaneSociety.org/ training.

ESPAÑOLA HUMANE

Riley is inexplicably the longest resident at Española Humane and, after 11 weeks in the shelter, she is way past ready to find her fur-ever.

This year-old, 64-pound fabulous fawn-colored female is as beautiful as a wildflower and would love to be your summer adventure buddy. She loves people of all ages, walks and hikes, kisses and cuddle puddles, and splashing in the river — but she doesn’t love cats. Take Riley home. It’s her time to blossom.

Garfield is a quiet daydreamer. This year-old, 13-pound orange tabby can be shy at first, which can cause adopters to overlook him, but once you start petting him, he flips onto his back, purring and asking for more. Apply to adopt this springtime tangerine dreamsicle on our website and schedule an appointment.

For more information and to see photos of adoptable pets in springlike settings, visit the shelter’s social media pages or espanolahumane. org. Adoptions continue to be by appointment only through the website. For more information, call 505-753-8662.
