Artichoke Cafe reopens with retooled menu

Beloved local staple The Artichoke Cafe is back in business.

It welcomed back guests on Monday. The restaurant, located at 424 Central SE, will be open Monday through Saturday and be closed Sunday. Lounge patrons can enjoy happy hour from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The happy hour menu offers a selection of $8 appetizers, $6 wine specials and $7 well cocktails. The lounge will remain open until 10 p.m.

Dinner hours are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reservatio­ns are suggested due to limited capacity and can be made via Resy.com. Walk-ins also are welcome. Carry out-curbside orders can be made by calling the restaurant at 243-0200.

The restaurant will showcase a revamped menu created in part by new chef de cuisine Bryan Romero. The menu has something for all palates including artichoke ravioli, beef tenderloin, orecchiett­e, scallops, vegan lasagna and more.

Salad offerings include mixed greens as well as beet. Other popular starters are French onion soup, mussels, steamed artichoke and saffron arancini.

The Artichoke Cafe, which celebrates 32 years in August, has been recognized with many awards over the years including most recently Best Upscale Restaurant in the Albuquerqu­e Journal’s Readers’ Choice poll in 2020 and 2019 as well as receiving the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

The restaurant is NM Safe Certified and has COVID-safe practices in place to protect the health of guests and staff.
