SPORTS SPEAK UP!

I, FOR ONE, am elated that MLB pulled All Star game from Atlanta! Moving it to Denver benefits me because of the proximity, and a possible trip to Coors Field to watch the game. More importantly, the move signals a backlash against Georgia’s codification of voter suppression, which warrants decisive action by corporate and institutional entities in support of our democratic principles. Jim Crow is not the way to go!

I HAVE BEEN watching MLB games for more than 60 years, but with this politically motivated and ridiculous decision to move the allstar game from Georgia because of their new voting law, there is no way I will watch one game this year. I hope the MLB is happy.

USED TO WATCH sports all the time. Now add MLB baseball to pro football, pro basketball and woman’s soccer to sports that I will not watch. The inmates are running the asylum.

I READ in the Journal that the Dodgers (received) World Series Championship rings. Are they 40% of normal size, or do they go ahead and pretend they deserve a full-size ring? Just wondering.—

WHY THE OCCASIONAL updates on Richie McKay? He never would have been successful at UNM as he was more concerned with wearing his religion on his sleeve than coaching Lobo basketball. He is a perfect fit at Liberty, a school no one has ever heard of, no one could locate, in a league no one cares about.

THANKS TO ROBERT from Arizona for his insight as to why Pitino was not successful at Minnesota (average recruiter whose teams were undisciplined). Wouldn’t an in-depth vetting have discovered that (assuming Robert is correct)? In any event, being from AZ and a Wisconsin fan gives him some points for objectivity! I join Robert in being concerned about this hire. — Frank, South Valley
