CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Victor Garde, of Rio Rancho, caught a 24-inch walleye at Abiquiú Lake using a curly tail grub April 9.

Ayden Taraddei, 8, of Placitas, caught his limit of rainbow trout at Eagle Rock Lake using orange PowerBait mice tails April 11.

Weston Duncan, 4, Avery Duncan, 4, Zoe Anderson-Amaro, 7, and Brock Anderson-Amaro, 13, all of Silver City, caught many rainbow trout at Glenwood Pond using chartreuse and rainbow PowerBait on April 10.

Jaylyn Lovato, 11, and Javier Delgado, 10, both of Rio Rancho, caught their limits of trout at Grindstone Reservoir using cheese PowerBait on April 7.

Justin Estrada, of Las Vegas, caught and released a 16-inch cutthroat trout at Morphy Lake using a size 18 hare’s ear fly April 11.

Joahua Laino, of Farmington, caught a 2.5-pound largemouth bass at Navajo Lake using a perch shad rap crankbait April 5.

Gabriel Sedillo, of Albuquerqu­e, caught an approximat­e 13-pound flathead catfish using cut bait on the Pecos River below Sumner Lake on April 4.

Taylor Griego and Angelico Chavez, both of Las Vegas, caught a 36-inch pike and a 14-inch black pike at Springer Lake using large black streamers April 11.

NOTES from GAME & FISH

Streamflow on the CIMARRON RIVER near Cimarron on Monday morning was 27.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using worms, salmon eggs and spinners.

Streamflow on the PECOS RIVER, near the town of Pecos, on Monday morning was 86.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using pheasant tail nymph flies, salmon eggs and beadhead nymph flies.

Streamflow on the RED RIVER, below the hatchery, on Monday morning was 70.3 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair using salmon eggs and worms.

Streamflow on the RIO GRANDE, at the Taos Junction Bridge, on Monday morning was 343 cfs. Fishing for trout was very good using caddis nymphs and caddis dry flies in the late afternoons.

Streamflow on the RIO PUEBLO, near Peñasco, on Monday morning was 57.5 cfs.

Fishing for walleye at ABIQUIÚ LAKE was good jigging plastic minnows and curly tail grubs.

Water flow on the ANIMAS RIVER, below Aztec, on Monday morning was 242 cfs.

Fishing for trout was good at FENTON LAKE using silver and blue Kastmaster lures, pheasant tail nymph flies, leech pattern flies, hare’s ear pattern flies, worms, salmon eggs, green and yellow PowerBait, and green and yellow Pistol Pete spinner flies. Please remember, only two cutthroat trout are allowed to be harvested per day within the regular five fish limit.

At the JEMEZ WATERS, streamflow on the Jemez near the village of Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 96.7 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using worms, Woolly Buggers and mop flies.

Streamflow on the SAN JUAN RIVER on Monday morning was 527 cfs. Fishing for trout in the quality waters was good using white leech pattern flies, streamers and midge nymph flies. Fishing for trout in the bait waters was good using PowerBait and small Rapala lures.

Streamflow on the GILA RIVER on Monday morning was 54.8 cfs.

Streamflow on the RIO GRANDE, below Elephant Butte, on Monday morning was 0 cfs. Fishing for catfish north of Elephant Butte Lake was good using cut bait.

Fishing for trout at ALTO LAKE was good using PowerBait.

Streamflow on the PECOS RIVER, below Sumner Lake, on Monday morning was 83.6 cfs. Fishing for catfish was good using cut bait.

Streamflow on the RUIDOSO RIVER on Monday morning, at Hollywood, was 4.31 cfs.
