Margaret Joan Crossman Wonn, known to many as Jody, completed her earthly journey on April 4, 2021. She was born in Omaha, NE, to Raymond M. Crossman, Sr., and Leila Margaret Ostenberg Crossman, graduated from Central High School in Omaha, NE and attended Carlton College in Northfield, MN. With her former husband, Robert W. Wells, she raised a family that moved frequently among locations in the western US and Canada. Jody was also a painter, her sons fondly remembering playing on the shores of Bow Lake in Alberta, Canada while she captured the Canadian Rockies in oil paints on canvas outdoors. After her boys left home, she earned a degree in accounting at Sam Houston State University and then worked in the oil business in Houston, TX. She moved to Albuquerque in 1995, concluding her working years with Builders Trust of New Mexico and finding love again with Glenn Wonn of Albuquerque, whom she married in 1998. Jody worshiped in the Episcopal Church in the US and the Anglican Church in Canada, her last church home being the Cathedral of St. John in Albuquerque. She was a proud member of P.E.O. and was recognized for 65 years of sisterhood in 2018. She enjoyed her time serving as a docent at the Albuquerque Museum. We remember her gentle voice, her kind words and an infectious laugh. Jody is survived by her sons, Robert H. Wells and wife Edie Mekis Wells of Seattle, WA and Lawrence M. Wells and wife Patricia Dickinson of Albuquerque, NM; her grandson, Nicholas D. Wells of Los Angeles, CA; her nephew, Dr. Raymond M. Crossman III and wife Dr. Stephanie J. Meyers of Omaha, NE and their children and grandchildren; her niece, Mary Marshall Crossman and husband John Bagley, their son Reid Bagley of Alameda, CA; and her stepsister Sally Willsie Kampfe of Kansas City, MO. Among many beloved family members who predeceased her were her husband Glenn Wonn, her parents, and her stepmother Grace Armitage Willsie Crossman, her brother Raymond M. Crossman, Jr. and wife Katherine Vanstory Crossman, her stepsister Charlotte Jane Willsie Kuppinger Colhoun, and her nephew Dr. Robert Crossman. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Jody’s life will be planned at the Cathedral of St. John in Albuquerque after COVID restrictions are lifted. If you would like to be personally notified when the Memorial and Celebration is scheduled, please email Larry Wells: lwells@ wellslawabq.com.
