Education spending lacks accountability in our state

-

WE THE voters will be asked to vote on taking an additional 1.25% from the Land Grant Permanent Fund to supposedly finance pre-kindergarten to 4-year-olds plus other options they may think up.

This is not a good idea because the more that is taken from the permanent fund the less there will be to earn interest to cover the original 5% that is now being taken out.

We the voters/taxpayers should be provided an audit of how this money has been spent in the past, plus how all the money spent on education is being spent. We are surrounded by states that spend about half as much per student, yet their students score higher than our students in New Mexico.

I do not think we have dumber students but that they are not provided with as good quality of education as other students. Could this be because more money is being spent on administration instead of smaller classrooms, more teachers and teacher aides and other materials that would help the students learn?

I have no children in school, but these are our future leaders and that will affect how life goes on for us. … Hopefully they would not be as stupid as many of our current leaders who are leaving our younger generation with trillions of dollars of debt.

People need to look at what is happening around them and get involved or we will end up with a lot of things we do not want because it is considered off-limits to discuss politics or religion or even activity around us, all of which affects our daily lives.
