Brother Donald Mouton, F.S.C., a member of the Bothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle Christian Schools) died April 17, 2021, at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Mouton and Heloise Lacour and his twin brother Robert. A native of Lafayette, LA, and proud of his Acadian heritage, he dedicated his life to education following in the footsteps of his parents who were teachers for many years. He graduated from St. Michael’s College, (College of Santa Fe) in 1957 and received a doctorate in theology from the Catholic University of Paris in 1971. He taught in schools in Covington, LA.; Montreal, Canada; Santa Fe as a high school teacher; and as a college professor in Santa Fe where he was also a president in the College of Santa Fe. He was also a presenter in many places, and received many honors over the years. He served in many other capacities including corporatio­n boards, provincial for the New Orleans Santa Fe District, a member of other associatio­ns, chairman and member of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, and the Santa Fe Rotary Club. He was fluent in French and competent in other languages. He enjoyed tennis and downhill skiing. His funeral will be a private service on Wednesday morning. A Zoom viewing will be available. In lieu flowers, he requested that contributi­ons be made to the St. LaSalle Auxiliary in Covington, LA., for the care of infirmed and elderly brothers of his religious community.
