A look at what’s happening around the majors Sunday:

JAKE BREAK: Mets ace Jacob deGrom plans to return to the rubber after being scratched from his last scheduled start Tuesday with right lat inflammation.

The two-time Cy Young Award winner played catch and threw a side session Friday and came out feeling well enough to proceed with his first outing since April 28. He’ll face the Diamondbacks and right-hander Riley Smith (1-1, 4.91).

DeGrom (2-2, 0.51) entered Saturday leading the NL with 59 strikeouts in 35 innings, against just four walks.

HELPING HIMSELF: Atlanta pitcher Huascar Ynoa is doing his best Shohei Ohtani impression lately, delivering on the mound and at the plate.

Ynoa has homered in each of his last two starts, and is 5 for 8 with a double and six RBIs in his previous three games. The 22-year-old righty hit a grand slam at Washington last Tuesday.

Ynoa is excelling with his arm, too. He’s 3-1 with a 2.36 ERA going into this Sunday night start against the Phillies at Truist Park.

WELCOME BACK: Johnny Cueto is set to come off the injured list after being sidelined for more than three weeks and start for San Francisco against the Padres.

The 35-year-old righty is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in three starts this season. Cueto last pitched April 14, then was sidelined by a strained right lat.

The Giants own the best record in the National League at 20-13.

They’ve been especially good at home, going 12-3 at Oracle Park.

WELCOME TO 2021: Hardthrowing Blue Jays right-hander Nate Pearson is set for his season debut against Houston. Pearson, among the game’s top pitching prospects, injured his groin in spring training and aggravated it during his first rehab stint.

The 24-year-old pitched in five games last year, posting a 6.00 ERA in 18 innings.

Saturday’s games

YANKEES 4, NATIONALS 3: In New York, Gleyber Torres’ tying single in the ninth inning and a winning infield single in the 11th helped the Yankees overcame Max Scherzer’s commanding 14-strikeout performance and beat Washington.

Scherzer allowed two hits in 7⅓ innings, but the Yankees rallied three times.

Kyle Higashioka’s home run tied the score at 1 in the third, Torres made it 2-all against Brad Hand in the ninth and Mike Ford’s single evened it 3-3 against Hand in the 10th.

With automatic runner DJ LeMahieu on second in the 11th, Tanner Rainey (0-2) walked Giancarlo Stanton on a full count and Aaron Judge on four pitches, loading the bases.

ATHLETICS 6, RAYS 3: In Oakland, Calif., Seth Brown hit a tworun homer in the first inning a day after delivering a walkoff drive, sending Oakland past Tampa Bay.

Brown added an RBI single in the seventh for key insurance before the Rays got one back in the eighth on Mike Zunino’s RBI single against Jake Diekman. Lou Trivino relieved and had to escape trouble recording the final four outs for his sixth save after blowing a chance in Thursday’s loss to Toronto.

GIANTS 7, PADRES 1: In San Francisco, Brandon Crawford, Brandon Belt and Austin Slater homered and San Francisco kept rolling at home, beating San Diego.

Kevin Gausman (3-0) permitted three hits and struck out seven in six smooth innings before San Francisco’s bullpen blanked the Padres for the final three innings.

CARDINALS 9, ROCKIES 8: In St. Louis, Yadier Molina drove in three runs in his return from the injured list, Paul Goldschmidt homered and St. Louis beat Colorado.

CUBS 3, PIRATES 2: In Chicago, pinch-hitter Matt Duffy had a go-ahead single in the seventh inning, reliever Keegan Thompson pitched three scoreless innings for his first major league victory and Chicago beat Pittsburgh for its fifth straight win.

TIGERS 7, TWINS 3: In Detroit, slumping Miguel Cabrera hit a tiebreaking single to key a five-run burst in the seventh inning that sent Detroit over Minnesota.

Cabrera had two hits, raising his batting average to .149. The longtime star now has 2,876 hits, tied with Mel Ott for 44th on the all-time list.

BRAVES 8, PHILLIES 7: In Atlanta, Ehire Adrianza capped a night full of comebacks for Atlanta with a game-ending RBI single in the 12th inning, helping the Braves stun Philadelphia in a chaotic victory.

Atlanta overcame deficits of 3-1 in the ninth and 4-3 in the 11th before rallying from a 7-4 hole in the 12th — all with Ronald Acuña Jr. out of the game after he was hit by a pitch in his left little finger in the seventh. X-rays were negative.

METS 4, DIAMONDBACKS 2: In New York, Jeff McNeil and Francisco Lindor teamed up to produce all four runs a night after scuffling in the dugout and New York beat Arizona.

RANGERS 9, MARINERS 8: In Arlington, Texas, Rangers rookie center fielder Adolis Garcia threw out Kyle Lewis at the plate on a wild, scrambly play for the final out, and Texas held off Seattle.

BLUE JAYS 8, ASTROS 4: In Houston, Cavan Biggio hit his first homer at the ballpark where his dad closed out his Hall of Fame career, Marcus Semien added a three-run shot late and Toronto beat Houston.

RED SOX 11, ORIOLES 6: In Baltimore, Michael Chavis homered in his first start of the season, Xander Bogaerts also connected and Boston beat Baltimore. Bogaerts and Alex Verdugo each had three hits for the Red Sox.

BREWERS 6, MARLINS 2: In Miami, Adrian Houser struck out 10 in six innings and homered off Daniel Castano (0-2) for the second time this season, and Milwaukee snapped a six-game losing streak.

INDIANS 9, REDS 2: In Cleveland, César Hernández hit a three-run triple and Aaron Civale pitched seven strong innings to stay unbeaten as Cleveland struck back after being no-hit for the second time in 24 days by belting Cincinnati.

WHITE SOX 9, ROYALS 1: In Kansas City, Mo., Danny Mendick hit a two-run homer during an eight-run first inning for Chicago, Yoan Moncada added three RBIs on two hits in the inning, and Andrew Vaughn, Leury Garcia and Yasmani Grandal each had an RBI.
