Sharon LaFawn Haynes Tucker

-

Sharon LaFawn Haynes Tucker, our beloved Wife, Sister, Aunt, Friend and “Mom” entered eternal life after a short battle with Covid-19 on 4/24/21 at Presbyterian Hospital in Alb, NM. Oh, the praising that will be going on as she meets Tommy, her only sibling Ruth Ronell (Haynes) Speck (Bryan Speck) and Mother and Daddy.

Sharon was born on December 7, 1935 in Artesia, NM to Samuel Howard and Blanche Guice Haynes. She graduated from High School in 1954, then married the love of her life William Thomas (Tommy) Tucker with whom she celebrated 50+ years of marriage. The couple moved to Portales in 1956. In 1957 Tommy was drafted and sent to Germany. While Tommy was away Sharon moved to Abilene (1958) to attend Draughon’s Business School. When Tommy was discharged, they moved back to Artesia, Montana, Cody Wyoming, Austin, Albuquerque, Oklahoma then ultimately to Albuquerque in 1973. She worked as a Branch Manager in Banking and retired in 1996. She enjoyed selling and building relationships in Avon for 16 years. Tommy and Sharon made several great relationships every Friday Night at Garcia’s Restaurant.

As you can see the common factor here is that Sharon had the need and desire to build relationships and lead people to God. Sharon had such a deep love for God and her “family” at Heights Church of Christ. Sharon’s Father introduced her to music, and she developed a BEAUTIFUL singing voice. She and Tommy attended several singing school events in Oklahoma. Sharon had a love for Cats and over the years adopted several strays and gave them the love they deserved.

Her nieces remember so fondly in their younger years getting to go see Sharon was an exciting time. Sharon always took them somewhere fun. Whether it be to the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus, the Zoo, Uncle Cliffs Family Land, or The Gila Cliff Dwellings. You could always count on Sharon to be the one to accompany them on all the “scary” rides.

Those left to mourn her passing include her Nieces Whitney (Vince) Gilbert and Kelly (Michael) Roach both of Las Cruces. She was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Tucker.

Sharon and Tommy always got a kick out of trying to decipher what people’s personalized license plates meant…. Her last plate was L8TAGN. Many thanks go out to Uptown Genesis Rehabilitation where she spent her last couple of years.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will not be a Funeral Service at this time. She will be laid to rest next to her Soulmate at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, NM.
