SF ANIMAL SHELTER & HUMANE SOCIETY

Bruno is a super-sweet Siberian Husky mix who is almost 2 years old and looking for a second chance in life. His previous family tells us that Bruno does have a lot of energy and enjoys playtime. Bruno has been around kids and walks well on leash. He would definitely benefit from some training, but overall, Bruno is an excellent pup and would love to be a part of any family. You can adopt Bruno during the shelter’s Wag-O-Ween for just $31.

Bonita is a beautiful 6-pound, year-old domestic shorthaired female kitty. She came to SFAS when her guardian could no longer care for her and is now looking for a home before winter arrives. At the shelter, Bonita has been a lovely cat to be around. She likes long naps and head scratches. She doesn’t even mind dressing up in Halloween costumes. Come and meet Bonita today.

These and other animals are available for adoption from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, with the last adoption at 5:30 p.m. Face coverings are required to visit the shelter. For information, call 983-4309 ext. 1610 or email Adoption@ SFHumaneSociety.org. View available animals and updated COVID-19 shelter policies at SFHumaneSociety.org. You can also follow the shelter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

WAG-O-WEEN ADOPTIONS TO BEGIN AT THE SHELTER

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter continues to face capacity issues for large dogs and is still calling on families to adopt a pup if they can. The shelter has announced that all dogs 6 months and older will now cost just $31 to adopt, including spay/neuter, microchip and age-appropriate vaccinations, through Oct. 31. The October adoption special titled “Wag-o-Ween” is another push by the shelter to find homes for all the homeless animals in their care. Excludes shelter heroes. For information about fostering or adopting, visit SFHumaneSociety.org.

DOGTOBERFEST CONTINUES The second annual Dogtoberfest campaign aims to raise awareness of long-term shelter residents and raise funds to support their unusual extended stay, which adds up financially for the shelter. Help raise money for the shelter at an upcoming raffle and trivia night benefiting long-term animals. Prizes include an overnight stay in Taos Ski Valley and a staycation in Santa Fe, complete with hotel accommodations and gift certificates to restaurants and culture attractions. Come out for Trivia Night, Thursday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at Tumbleroot Brewery and Distillery, 2791 Agua Fria St. Visit SFHumaneSociety for information.

ESPAÑOLA HUMANE

We all have a soft spot for the seniors and Juji is a squish-face love. This 8-year-old, 89-pound shepherd seems confused to be in a shelter and not in a home. Give this silver fox the dog dream of forever. Apply for Juji on the website or come in to meet him! He loves to go out on walks and to spend time with his dog buddies, too.

Nana may be missing an eye, but she’s looking up at her future of a forever home. Give this 8-month, 7-pound orange tabby the safe home she deserves, and Nana will pay you back double with purrs and lap muffins!

Apply to meet Juji or Nana on the shelter’s website or come in to meet your match. Kennels open at 10:30 a.m. every day. Española Humane is located at 108 Hamm Parkway. The shelter is open to the public for adoptions from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Face coverings and proper social distancing are required inside the kennels and shelter. Apply to adopt any of these pets or schedule an appointment at www. espanolahumane.org or call 505-753-8662.

LOW-COST VACCINATION CLINIC

Española Humane will host two free and lowcost vaccination clinics for all companion pets in October. Altered pets will receive free vaccinations thanks to Petco Love’s national vaccination initiative, which is providing 1 million free pet vaccines to its existing animal welfare partners, including AnimalWelfare. org, for pets in need. Vaccines for unaltered Rio Arriba County pets are $10. Residents outside of the service area are also welcome. The cost for outof-county pets is $10 for altered pets and $20 for unaltered pets. Flea and tick medication is available for an additional fee, along with heartworm testing and prevention.

The walk-in event will be held at the shelter’s clinic, 108 Hamm Parkway, Española, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 29. No appointment is necessary. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats in carriers. For information, visit espanolahumane.org.
