James Howard Hoge

James Howard "Jim" Hoge, a devoted Catholic and beloved husband, father, grandfathe­r and great-grandfathe­r passed away peacefully on October 13, 2021, in Albuquerqu­e, NM at the age of 90.

Jim was born in 1930, the son of Howard Hoge and Maxine (Harrington) Hoge, and grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Madison Central High School after which he entered the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He majored in Marine and Electrical Engineerin­g and, as a commission­ed officer, he served twelve years in the United States Navy including as a pilot with squadron VP-45 in the Panama Canal Zone and Bermuda. He later served as an instructor at the Naval Air Intelligen­ce School. He was honorably discharged and subsequent­ly served in the Naval Reserves, achieving the rank of Commander, and as a civil servant with the Defense Intelligen­ce Agency, South Com and the Air Force Test and Evaluation Center.

Jim first married Madeleine Mary Hoffman and had 5 children. He later married Sandra Pierson and recently celebrated his 44th wedding anniversar­y. During retirement, Jim and Sandra were active RVers, including working as WagonMaste­rs for Tracks to Adventure for over 4 years leading caravans in the United States, Canada and Mexico. During this time, they made many lifelong friends. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family at his summer home in Eagle Nest, New Mexico and took great pleasure in outdoor activities including RVing, fishing, hunting and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hoge; children, Philip Hoge (Susan), Kim Kammann, Chris Hoge (Rossarin), Michael Hoge and John Hoge; stepchildr­en, Deborah Pierson and Jon Pierson; grandchild­ren, Brian Hoge (Kate), Gregory Hoge, Sean Kammann (Alexandra), Danielle Kammann, Isabelle Hoge, Lucas Hoge, Helena Hoge, Kai Hoge, Shane Pierson, Maria Pierson; and two great-grandchild­ren.
