Steven Anthony Tomasi

-

Steven Anthony Tomasi, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went to his Savior on Thursday, November 18, 2021 after a brief illness.

He was born September 9, 1959 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the eldest son of John and Lilly Tomasi. He grew up in Hereford, Texas until he was in 6th Grade. The family then moved to Albuquerque where John and Lilly had extended family.

From his youngest years Steve loved any and all athletics. He played baseball and football, becoming his high school’s quarterback. Sports continued to be his favorite activity into adulthood, especially following his (and possibly God’s) favorite football team – the Dallas Cowboys. Baseball was always the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In 1984 he graduated from the University of New Mexico and married Kathy Schaberg. They were blessed with 2 beautiful girls, Kelly and Amy. Steve worked at G&K, General Mills and recently with the Albuquerque Police Department, a job he adored. In 2011 he married his wife Riva and they shared 10 years of a loving and happy marriage. Through that marriage he added two sons, Brennan and Jordan.

Steve was an active member of Sagebrush Church and was always ready to host gatherings, Bible studies, family holidays and baking times. He was happiest when the house was full, kids were noisy and people were fed.

He is survived by his beloved family – his wife Riva, daughters Kelly (Justin Birrell) and Amy (Jason Brutovsky), sons Brennan Farrell and Jordan Farrell, and his grandchildren Ava, Carson, Emmalyn and Cash Birrell, and Bella and Lilliana Brutovsky, his sisters Pam (Mark Huxen), Patrice (Chris Welker), Annette (Marty Armijo), and his brothers David and Tom (Jeree), as well their children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at New Covenant Church, 7201 Holly Ave, NE on Saturday, November 27th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to www.beds4kidsz.org
