Anita Miera
Anita Miera, age 92, died peacefully at home on November 28, 2021,surrounded by her loving children.
She was born on May 9, 1929, to Luciano & Carolina Nieto in Bernalillo, NM. She married her high school sweetheart, Henry Miera. They started their family in Santa Fe, NM and then moved to Albuquerque in 1957. She cared for Henry through his many years with MS while continuing to work at the NMMVD and raising her children. She was forced to retire in 1983 due to illness. Henry passed away in 1988. Although she endured much adversity and illness, she persevered with her strong catholic faith. She was always kind and generous. Her door was always open to family & friends, many who lived with her during times of need due to work, school or transition.
With the help of Hospice of New Mexico and our loving caregiver, Sarah Lucero, she was able to remain in her home until her death.
She is survived by her daughters Frances Oja & husband Duane, Norma Sommers, Susan Anderson, her son Vernon Miera & wife Debbie, her grandchildren Hank Walker & significant other, Rene Lenniger, Kristin Near & husband Boyd, Sarah Oja, Leann Templeman & husband Chris, Amanda Candelaria & husband Scott, Michael Swalby & wife Jayme, Brandon Miera & wife Michele, Matthew Miera & wife Shelley; great grandchildren Joe Near, Sam & Raymond Oja, Cooper Templeman, Liliana & Madelyn Candelaria, Marissa, Mikey & Jacob Swalby, Ehtan & Zoe Miera, Jayce & Lincoln McGurk, Kempton & Monroe Miera and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 16th at 6:00 pm at FRENCH- Wyoming. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, December 17th at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church 2532 Vermont St NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
