Salt Lake rally stings CF Montreal

MONTREAL — Justen Glad and Sergio Córdova scored in a 12-minute span in the second half, leading Real Salt Lake to a 2-1 win over CF Montreal on Sunday.

Djordje Mihailovic scored for Montreal, which dropped points at home for the first time this season.

Montreal wasted no time seizing the advantage when Ahmed Hamdi found Mihailovic unmarked in the box, giving Montreal the lead 43 seconds in — the club’s third-fastest goal in MLS.

Real Salt Lake tied the score nine minutes into the second half when Gleb scored his second of the season, heading a corner by Pablo Ruiz.

Just after the 60-minute mark, Córdova converted a powerful shot into the bottom right corner.

MINNESOTA UNITED 2, FC DALLAS 1: In Frisco, Texas, Robin Lod and DJ Taylor each scored a goal and Minnesota held off FC Dallas.

Lod scored in the 28th minute to give Minnesota United the lead and Taylor found the net in the 55th minute to make to 2-0.

Off-season acquisitio­n Paul Arriola quickly answered with his fifth goal of the season for Dallas, scoring in the 59th minute to cut the deficit in half.

Lod tops Minnesota’s all-time goals list with 22 and has scored a goal in three straight matches.

MIAMI CF 2, NY RED BULLS 0: In Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ariel Lassiter scored in the first half, Robert Taylor scored an insurance goal late and Inter Miami CF defeated the New York Red Bulls.

Lassiter, who was acquired from the Houston Dynamos in the offseason, found the net in the 29th minute to give Inter Miami a 1-0 lead. Taylor connected in the 88th minute. It was the first goal this season for both players.

Drake Callender saved all four shots he faced for Inter Miami. He has two clean sheets in five starts this season.

NEW YORK CITY FC 1, CHICAGO FIRE 0: In New York, Héber Araujo dos Santos scored on a penalty kick in the 28th minute and Sean Johnson made it stand up as New York City FC defeated the Chicago Fire.

Johnson didn’t have to make a save until the 90th minute when Jhon Duran got off the lone shot on goal for Chicago. NYCFC outshot Chicago 15-10 and had five shots on goal.

CHARLOTTE FC 2, VANCOUVER WHITECAPS 1: In Charlotte, N.C., Daniel Rios scored on a tap-in in the 85th minute to send Charlotte FC to a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday.

Vancouver grabbed a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the match when Tosaint Ricketts took advantage of a Christian Fuchs miscue in the box to find the back of the net.

Charlotte answered in the 8th minute when Andre Shinyashik­i snuck a header past Vancouver’s Max Anchor.

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKE­S 1, SPORTING KC 1 (TIE):

In San Jose, Calif., Jackson Yueill scored one minute into the second half to help the San Jose Earthquake­s earn a draw with Sporting Kansas City.

Jamiro Monteiro got an assist on the equalizer for San Jose.

Johnny Russell scored in the 45th minute to give Sporting KC the lead at halftime. Sporting KC picked up just its second point away from home this season.

The Earthquake­s outshot Sporting KC 18-5 with a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Tim Melia made four saves for Sporting KC.

HOUSTON DYNAMO 3, LA GALAXY 0: In Carson, Calif., Sebastián Ferreira notched a goal and two assists and Steve Clark turned away all nine shots he faced as Houston cruised to a victory.

Ferreira staked the Dynamo to an early lead with a goal in the 11th minute. Ferreira notched assists in the second half on goals by Tyler Pasher in the 58th minute and Thorleifur Úlfarsson in the 62nd.

AUSTIN FC 2, ORLANDO CITY 2 (TIE): In Austin, Texas, Moussa Djitte scored in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time and Austin FC rallied for a draw with Orlando City.

Ercan Kara scored two minutes into the match and Ruan found the net in the 22nd minute as Orlando City jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

Sebastian Driussi got Austin (7-3-3) on the scoreboard with a penalty-kick goal in the 63rd minute.

COLORADO RAPIDS 1, SEATTLE SOUNDERS 0:

In Commerce City, Colo., Jonathan Lewis scored a goal five minutes into the second half and the Colorado Rapids upped their home unbeaten streak to 24.

With the win, the Rapids matched the current run of Nashville SC for the third longest streak in MLS history. The Houston Dynamo hold the record with 30. Real Salt Lake is second at 29.

It was the 50th MLS win for Rapids head coach Robin Fraser.
