-

Douglas D. Goodfellow, son of Jeanine Ballou Goodfellow and Lawrence Goodfellow, passed away April 1, 2022. Doug is survived by his wife Ana Marie Goodfellow, children Nathaniel Goodfellow and Maria Goodfellow, and sister Kelly Burdette and many nieces, nephews and cousins. After a rough start in life, several careers, and after attending 5 different colleges, Doug completed his bachelor’s, and master’s degree at the University of New Mexico in Secondary Education in 2010. Doug found his true calling as a high school English teacher at Volcano Vista High School, where he taught for the past 12 years. Doug was a beloved, dynamic, and dedicated instructor. Doug constantly challenged himself to exceed in all areas of his life. He was a lifelong learner and a voracious reader. Over the years he also ran, biked, backpacked, and rafted. Doug was most proud of his successful ascent of Denali in 2004, his two selfpropelled raft trips of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon and, most recently, his completion of the Triple Bypass Bicycle Race in Colorado (a 106mile ride over three mountain passes). Doug was known for his quick wit, jokes, storytelling, and his love of animals, especially dogs. Doug valued random acts of kindness. His dynamic, larger than life presence, and infectious laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on June 3, 2022, from 6PM to 8PM at Volcano Vista in the Main Gym - South Side at 8100 Rainbow Blvd NW, Albuquerque. There will be opportunities to share your Doug stories, adopt a rescue dog and/or donate to a memorial scholarship in his honor at the memorial service.
