NEW YORK — Gerrit Cole pitched perfectly into the seventh inning a night after teammate Jameson Taillon lost his bid in the eighth, Aaron Judge homered and had four hits, and the New York Yankees thumped the Detroit Tigers 13-0 Friday.

The Yankees are the first team with consecutive perfect-game bids of six innings or more since at least 1961, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Jose Trevino, Anthony Rizzo and Matt Carpenter also homered for New York.

Jonathan Schoop spoiled Cole’s (5-1) perfect night with two outs in the seventh as his grounder skipped up the middle.

PADRES 7, BREWERS 0: In Milwaukee, Joe Musgrove nearly threw his second no-hitter in as many seasons as San Diego blanked the Brewers.

Musgrove, who pitched the only no-hitter in Padres history last season, held Milwaukee hitless for 7⅔ innings.

BRAVES 3, ROCKIES 1 (10 inn.): In Denver, Max Fried pitched eight scoreless innings, Matt Olson hit a two-run single in the 10th and Atlanta became the last major league team to win three straight games this season.

It was only the second game in Coors Field history to be scoreless after nine innings.

PHILLIES 10, ANGELS 0: In Philadelphia, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber each homered twice for the Phillies.

The Angels have lost nine straight, their worst skid since an 11-game drought in 2016.

Goldschmidt closed in on his career-high 26-game hitting streak with Arizona in 2013.

NATIONALS 8, REDS 5: In Cincinnati, Lane Thomas had a threehomer game for the first time in his career, and Nelson Cruz and Juan Soto also went deep, leading Washington.

Thomas’ bid to become the 19th in MLB history to hit four home runs in a game ended in the eighth when he flew out.

GIANTS 15, MARLINS 6: In Miami, Brandon Crawford hit his fifth career grand slam, Mike Yastrzemski homered and doubled, and San Francisco, with a season-high five home runs, pounded the Marlins.

Álvarez’s 15 home runs are second in the American League behind the Yankees’ Aaron Judge.

RED SOX 7, ATHLETICS 2: In Oakland, Calif., Xander Bogaerts homered and drove in three runs to celebrate becoming the career leader in games played by a Boston.

The A’s fell to 7-21 at home — their worst start at the Coliseum since moving from Kansas City in 1968.
