David "Butch" Davis

-

David “Butch” Howard Davis, 79, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Butch is survived by his wife, Videla “Vi”

Davis; and his children, Morgan Davis, Christeen Davis, Amber (Chad) Brown,

Cody (Emily) Davis, and Krystal (Victor) Perea. He is also survived by his brother, Dickie (Pam) Davis; sisters, Marjorie (Phil) Pantuso and Jane (Mike) Fugate; and four grandsons, David Perea, Nathan Perea, Jaden Perea, and David Brown. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Loraine and Howard Davis, two pillars of faith.

Butch was born and raised in Roswell, NM. He attended Roswell High School where he played varsity football and was voted “Best All Around” guy his senior year. He went on to Eastern New Mexico University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and later his master’s degree in business. He was elected to Who’s Who and was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. He worked in public and private accounting before transitioning to owning his own business, Empire Roofing, which just celebrated its fortieth year of serving New Mexico.

Butch loved to hunt. He loved his horses and horseback riding through the mountains of New Mexico. He enjoyed the outdoors and he loved tinkering out in his shed, always finding something in need of repair. He loved his Westerns, whether in print or on film. He loved his weekday breakfast meetings and snacking between meals. He loved his Sunday football and his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He discovered later in life that he loved going on cruise ships and traveling. His favorite trip was to Israel with his church. He loved to fellowship, and he loved studying his Bible. But above all, he loved his family.

Butch met Vi almost thirty years ago. They celebrated thirteen years of marriage last July and were looking forward to continuing their travels after the pandemic closures of 2020-2021. Unfortunately, those joy-filled plans were brought to a halt with a shocking cancer diagnosis. Despite his intense and aggressive treatment efforts, Butch succumbed to his cancer just eight short months after diagnosis. He was cared for up until the very end by his loving wife and his nephew, Adolfo Chavez. Just ten days shy of his eightieth birthday, Butch closed his eyes in this world and opened his eyes in Paradise. Though he will be greatly missed by family and friends, we rejoice for him and wait with anticipation to be reunited with him one day.

Butch’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, 9:00 a.m., at FRENCH- University. Butch will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. A reception will follow at Calvary Chapel Southwest, 6510 Fortuna Rd. NW. (Across from West Mesa High School).
