Nancy Elizabeth Dodd

Nancy Dodd was the first child born to Newell Ellis Dodd and Lillian Graham Dodd in Albuquerqu­e New Mexico.

She graduated from Highland High and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Texas Women’s University. She started her career with Albuquerqu­e Public Schools working as a PE instructor at Rio Grand High School. She would later return to Highland High as a guidance counselor and then on to work with children in the primary grades of Albuquerqu­e Public Schools.

Nancy subsequent­ly studied at UNM to receive her doctorate degree in psychology. She completed her internship in the early 1990’s working at the forefront of the AIDs epidemic in Houston, Texas. She went on the enter private practice in Albuquerqu­e and Los Lunas where she resided later in her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents as well as by her sister Judith Lynn (Dodd) Cloward.

She is survived by her two brothers, Graham Dodd and Allan (& Mimi) Dodd. She is also survived by her niece and nephew, Haven (and Mike) Qualman and Paul (and Shawna) Cloward. As the children of her late sister Judy, Nancy played a significan­t role in their growing up years. She is also survived by her nephews Kalen and Justin Dodd who remember her with fondness.

Nancy is also survived by her life-long friend and housemate Evelyn Ems. Nancy leaves behind many friends and fellow players from the senior women’s basketball league in Albuquerqu­e and Los Lunas.

A life-long regard for the welfare of animals led Nancy to rescue and adopt many beloved pets over the course of many years. Your contributi­on to your local SPCA in her name would be preferred.
