Antonio Michael Olmi (Tony)

-

Born Antonius Michael Graf Von Rechberg, in Frankfurt, Germany July 28, 1943, to Countess Agnes Grafin

Von Rechberg & Giuseppe Olmi, was called to be with his Lord and Savior on June 13, 2022.

Tony lived a full life, serving various roles in insurance, legislative, real estate, and business, but his most important roles were loving husband, father, Opa, brother, uncle, friend, and servant of God. Tony was incredibly introspective. Those who knew him would affectionately describe him as loving, loyal, humble, and kind.

His first years of life were split between Germany with his mother and in Florence, Italy with his grandmother Antonia. On October 12th, 1949, he and Antonia made port in Ellis Island, New York, reuniting him with his father. Delighted by the sight of the Statue of Liberty, this marked the beginning of his journey to American citizenship as they traveled across country to his first home in New Mexico. His life consisted of days skiing, a defining aspect of his life. At six years old the Albuquerque Journal published an article “Tony Olmi, Ski Veteran at Six, Studies English”, in which the author states “Diplomats could learn a lesson in international relationships from Tony”. His ability to meet people where they were in their journey and find common ground with anyone was a gift he shared throughout his life. Tony truly traveled and saw more of the country in his youth, than most born in America.

Tony was naturalized as an American when he made the decision to enlist in the United States Air Force. Which he proudly served in from 1961 to 1966.

Although his formal education ended with him obtaining his Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico, his hunger for knowledge never ended. Tony read and shared more books with others in a week, than many do in a lifetime.

He went on to work with the Small Business Administration from 1970 to 1978, and then again from 20012004. Assisting hundreds of disaster victims in FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers and Disaster Field Offices around the world.

In November 1974, Tony married the love of his life

Mary Louise Scott, and together they welcomed four children; Michael, Joseph, Christina, and Alexandra. Who have since given them four granddaughters; Greer, McKenna, Isla, and Harper, whom he cherished in his role as Opa.

Tony had a lifelong career in the New Mexico real estate community, a role that spanned 43 years, as both a realtor, and member of the NM Council of Exchangers as well as a Court Appointed Receiver.

Tony’s life was wholly given to the service of those around him through the God’s ministry. His generosity, compassion, faith, trust, hope, and love could be felt not only by his family, but also those he influenced serving in various roles in organizations like Victory Outreach Church of Albuquerque, Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, President of the Christian Coalition, and the NM State Parks Foundation to name a few.

His interests ranged from history to avid reading, skiing, sailing, paramotoring, and music.

Tony knew no stranger and was a friend to all. Drawing great fulfillment in helping others from any walk of life.

Tony’s life was a life well lived to his heart’s contentment. He is survived by Mary Olmi, Michael Olmi, his wife Tiffany Sanchez, and their daughter Greer, Joseph Olmi, Christen Hagemann and her sons Jase and Draven, Christina Murray, her husband Michael Murray, and their daughters McKenna and Isla, Alexandra Hackbarth, her husband Corey Hackbarth, and their daughter Harper. Sister Didi Risom, and brothers Chris, and Nick. His extended family including inlaws Betty and Paul Parker, Tom and Sam Scott, Linda and Tom Franchini, Helen and Keith Franchini, Janet Nadonly, their children, and his reconnected family in Germany. Tony is preceded in death by Agnes Von Rechberg, Giuseppe Olmi, and Judy George.

He will be missed by many, and the advice he would give all “TAKE TIME TO LIVE...” T.O.

A celebration of his life will be June 25th at 10:00 am Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church 8600 Academy RD NE, Albuquerque NM 87111
