Allison Snowhawk Lee

Allison was born on April

26, 1958, in Gallup, New Mexico; and passed away on June 19,

2022, in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico. He was an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation (Dine’). He was born into Bit’ahnii (Under his Cover People Clan) and for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan). He graduated from Tohatchi High School in 1977. He was awarded the Most Artistic in his class of 160 students for silversmit­hing. He became interested in silversmit­hing in an art class, making his first jewelry pieces at age twelve. He developed a passion for making new pieces of jewelry with parts of older pieces. He commented often that he felt as though he was bridging generation­s with each new piece of jewelry he made. The desire and passion to create jewelry launched him into a successful career spanning 45 years.

Allison became a master silversmit­h; well-known and highly regarded in the Native American art community in New Mexico and beyond. He began competing in juried art shows in 1988 and continued the tradition of competitio­n throughout his life. He received numerous top awards and honors in prestigiou­s shows like the Santa Fe Indian Market, Heard Museum Show and others.

He was wellknown for his attention to detail and overall clean finish work. He believed that every piece of jewelry he made was specifical­ly intended for each person that received it.

When Allison was not working, he enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, camping, watching the Denver Broncos play and spending time with his family and friends.

Allison leaves behind his children: Alvina Earnhart (Benjamin Earnhart) from Milliken, Colorado; Ferguson Lee (Milvia Valladares) from Parker, Colorado; Wyatt Lee Anderson from Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico; Kyle Lee-Anderson from Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico; and Trent Lee-Anderson from Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico; and four grandchild­ren. Allison is preceded in death by his mother, Rena Mae Lee, from Mexican Springs, New Mexico; and his father, Chee Lee, from Mexican Springs, New Mexico. Allison will be missed dearly by his family, friends and wonderful customers.

Allison’s funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, New Mexico. Allison will be laid to rest at Lone Pine Cemetery in Mexican Springs, New Mexico.
