Frances E. Dwyer

-

Frances E. Dwyer born in 1925, who lived in Albuquerque and worked for the

FBI for almost 40 years, passed away Saturday,

June 11, 2022 in Chandler, AZ.

She was in remarkably good physical health for many years but later battled macular degeneration and dementia. She was cared for by several wonderful friends in Albuquerque and then by family when she was moved to Chandler, AZ to be near them. Fran was predeceased by her mother, Elma Dwyer; her father, Robert J. Dwyer; as well as her two brothers, Jack (Robert John) and David. She is survived by her niece, Karen Dwyer and her family, Ruth Williams, Lauren Dwyer, and Sarah Dwyer (Chandler, AZ); her nephew, Tom Dwyer and his family, Mary Coles, Daniel Dwyer, Brady Dwyer, and David Dwyer (Dallas, TX); and by many friends.

Fran was born in Palo Alto, CA and raised, for the most part, in Durango, CO. In Seattle she worked for a public utility company and then moved to the Southwest where she worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and then the FBI in Albuquerque. Retiring from the FBI after 38 years, Fran began working for former FBI agents who opened their own private investigation firm where she was office manager for several years. Fran loved her faith, her family, and her friends. She was a loyal and funny person who often used self-deprecating wit. She enjoyed traveling and visited many states in the US as well as European countries in retirement. Forced to give up her beloved car when she could no longer see to drive, Fran, at 89, walked everywhere until this too became too difficult. Eventually friends drove her to and from church for services.

A Celebration of Fran’s life will begin with a Rosary on Wednesday, June 28, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH-University. A Mass will be Celebrated Thursday, June 30, 2022, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont St. NE. Interment will take place at a later date at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango, where she will join her mother and other family members.
