Wesley P. “Phil” Rockwell, 82, a longtime resident of Albuquerqu­e,

New Mexico, late of Vernonia, Oregon, died Sunday evening, June 5,

2022 at his home.

A Celebratio­n of Life is set for August 8, 2022, at the High Point Grill and Taproom, 9780 Coors Blvd NW STE A, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87114, from 5-8 pm.

Phil Rockwell was born November 10, 1939, in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico, the son of the late Wesley Amos Rockwell and Eliza (Milligan) Rockwell. He was raised and received his education in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico, having been a graduate of Albuquerqu­e High School Class of ‘57.

He was united in marriage to Sandra E. Walker on November 25, 1961, in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico. Following their marriage they resided in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico where they began their family with a son and daughter, Brad Rockwell and Robin Rockwell Harrison.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, on March 6, 2014, after celebratin­g over 53 years of marriage together. In June of 2019, Phil moved to Vernonia, Oregon to reside with his daughter and son-in-law and be closer to his son.

He was a Sheet Metal worker for the Sheet Metal Workers’ Union Local #49 in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico. Phil worked for the Union for many years and stayed active after he retired.

Among his special interests, Phil was an avid bowler, having bowled in several leagues, as well as the National Bowling Tournament­s. He had been recognized for bowling two perfect 300 games.

Phil was known to a lot of people for so many reasons, always available to lend a hand, hook up air conditione­rs, fix plumbing, and he loved remodeling projects. He was loved and respected by all that knew him; and known for his dry sense of humor, and hugs that were one of a kind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Eliza Rockwell; by his brother Gene, and six sisters; Florence Watson, Fay Scutt, Vera Donald, Fern Glico, Wilma Dillow, and his twin, Phyllis Stephens; also by his in-laws Marshall and Virginia (Freberg) Walker, Karen and Don Wilder, Lance and Sandra Walker, and Brian Walker.

Survivors include his son and partner, Brad Rockwell and Carlie Beck, of LaGrande, Oregon; his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jeff Harrison, of Vernonia, Oregon; four grandchild­ren and their partners, Heather Rockwell and James Hutchinson, of Dallas, Georgia; Jenna Rockwell, of Vernonia, Oregon; Jordon Rockwell and Teresa Sutton, of Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico; and Jade-Rylie Parks and her fiancée, Seamus Stegenga, of Lyons, Illinois; his two great-grandchild­ren, Presley Rockwell and Madix Montano.

Also surviving are his daughter-in-law, Melissa Lambert, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; niece and her husband, Karri and Gilbert Olguin of Los Alamos, New Mexico; Sister-in-Law, Julie Walker (Brian) of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that remembranc­es may be contributi­ons to Alzheimer’s Associatio­n, 6731 Academy Rd., N.E., Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico, 87109, in his memory.
