It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) Lawrence Roybal, 72, on Sunday, January

29, 2023. Rick passed away peacefully with his Daughters by his side. Rick is survived by his life partner of 26 years Virginia Voigt; Daughter Janea Roybal and her fiancé Jimmy Duran; Daughter Aleah Roybal and her significan­t other Edgar Torres; Grandchild­ren Antonio Roybal, Heaven-Lea Roybal, Elias Roybal- Apodaca and Julian Apodaca. He is also survived by his Sister Beverly Baca and her significan­t other Doyle Winter; Sister Rosella Harms; Sister Mae Dotson and her Husband Timothy Dotson; and Brother Christophe­r Roybal. He also had many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his loving Parents Lawrence and Valentina Roybal, and many beloved Aunts and Uncles. Rick was an amazing man and a proud Vietnam Veteran of the U. S. Army. After Rick was discharged from the Army and returned to Albuquerqu­e, he worked as a butcher with his Father Lawrence at his Parents’ grocery store, Roybal’s Market, in the North Valley. Afterwards, he worked for Reynolds Aluminum for many years. Rick started a new gig as a Roofer, where he worked very hard and met many good friends/brothers. He enjoyed camping and fishing and spending time with his family. He loved being a Father and Grandfathe­r. He also loved his dogs, Bam-Bam, Buttons and Bella. A Rosary will be held at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Mass, on February 16, 2023 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church located at 9502 4th Street NW 87114. Rick will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors at Angel Fire Vietnam Veterans Memorial on a later date.
