Manforita (Peralta) Gallegos, age 94, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on February 25,

2023, after a brief illness with her family by her side. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Visitation will take place at 9:00 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband on March 9, 2023, at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Gillie; siblings, Florencio Peralta (Mercedes), Clorinda Perea (Phil), Leonor Torrez (Augustin), Socimo Peralta (Feliz), Simon Peralta, and Eloy Peralta (Eva). Manforita is survived by her children, Robert (Betty), and Orlando Gallegos, Frances Rangel, and Julia Harding (Keith), all of Belen, NM; sister-in-law’s, Dulces Estrada of San Bernardino, CA, and Lorie Gallegos of Albuquerqu­e, NM; grandchild­ren, Windy

Dunn (Craig), Charlie Chick, Nick Gallegos (Meghan), Richard Rangel II, Arlene (Marcos), and Kevin Harding; great-grandchild­ren , Hannah, Ryan, and Brooke Dunn, Juleon and Stacy Chick, Mariah (Duke) Richard III and Maurie Rangel, Marcos and Paris Valencia; great-great-grandchild­ren, Ikraius, Averianna, and Aubriella Espinosa, and Marcus Rangel; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly; and her very special Goddaughte­rs, Marie Ochoa and Sylvia Torrez of Barstow, CA. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and was proud to be a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over 45 years. Manforita was born in La Joya, NM to Juan Andres and Julianita Peralta, the fifth of seven children, and was raised by her beloved grandmothe­r, Espiridion­a until her death in 1936. She married the love of her life in 1951 and together they raised four children. After proudly receiving her GED in 1971, Manforita worked for the Belen Consolidat­ed School District from 1972-1998. During those years she worked as a secretary at the Pueblitos Elementary School, Library Aide at Jarales Elementary, and Kindergart­en Aide at Dennis Chavez Elementary where she was beloved by staff and children, many of whom she maintained relationsh­ips with over the years. After retiring in 1998, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, traveling, and especially looking after her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren whenever possible.
