Albert LeRoy Bossert

-

Albert (Al) LeRoy Bossert, 93, of Kansas City, Mo., died Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the home he shared with his wife, Roberta (Robbie) Bossert. He was born to Della E. Barnard and Albert T. Bossert in 1929. He attended N.K.C. High School, and studied business at a two-year school. Albert served in the US Navy in the 1950s. He and brother Gene created a hybrid motor known as the Chevmobile. They maintained Bossert Automotive in NKC for over thirty years. Albert was a member of the NKC Jaycees. He was known in his community for his honesty in business and his acumen as a mechanic.

Albert married Shirley Ann Wilson in 1955 and divorced in 1977. They had five children together: Albert Tobias Bossert (Heather), Mark D. Bossert (deceased 2020), Melinda A. Bossert, Paul A. Bossert and Amy J. Bossert Graves (Alan). He gained two stepdaughters, Lindsay Rice and Courtney Epperson (Ken) upon his marriage to Robbie in 1993, and a granddaughter, Abbi Epperson-Ladd (Ash). Albert is survived by his wife, 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one brother: Arthur H. Bossert (deceased 2013), David E. Bossert (deceased 2000), and Paul E. Bossert.

Albert was born in Missouri and lived in Missouri for most of his life. During 1979 to 2007 he lived in New Mexico. He moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1979, and then Hatch, NM beginning in 1993 where his wife Robbie joined him. During his stay in Las Cruces, NM he had a sole proprietorship where he performed automotive mechanical and body work. He was an expert body mechanic and had a keen mind that allowed him to diagnose automotive problems easily when few or no others could. When he moved to Hatch, NM, he designed and constructed the octagonal shaped home that he shared with his wife, Robbie until they relocated to Kansas City, Mo. Al was always there to help anyone who needed it. Many times, he would see a car stopped on the side of the road, and offered help to the driver whose car was inoperative. One occasion, he tweaked something in the engine on the side of the road for a lady whose car had failed. He got it running, and when she asked how he had done it, he said, ‘I don’t know!’ He was so naturally talented he didn’t even have to think it through when solving the problem; it was second nature.

A celebration of life will be on August 19, 2023 in Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Dona Ana Human Society
