Eugene ’Doc’ Dugan

-

Doc, nicknamed by his brother at birth, died of natural causes on July 31, 2023 just short of his 85th birthday. He loved God, was proud of his Irish heritage, and was a devout and active member of the Catholic faith.

He served in the US Army Reserve from 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1967. He supported his community with participation in the Knights of Columbus in Poughkeepsie, NY, and the Stanford Grange #808 in Stanfordville NY for over 25 years.

Doc retired from IBM in 1993 after 30 years. He received numerous accolades for his willingness to go above and beyond and continuously helping coworkers. The theme of going above and beyond in every aspect of life was the thread that was woven into the core of who Doc was.

In November 2001 Doc relocated to Rio Rancho where he found love again with Geraldine (Geri) Stromberg, and gained an entire ’bonus family’ in the process. Together they worked at the Food Pantry, went to church, traveled and enjoyed each others company for over 20 years until Geri’s death in December 2021. Doc will be greatly missed by his bonus family, including Sheryl and Steve Parsley, Leanne and Joe Sperry, Cindy Johnson, Carl and Nina Stromberg, Richard and Debbie Stromberg, ’grandchildren’ Amber, Anders, Jonathan, Amy, Heather, Henry, Rebekha and Tim, and ’great-grandchildren’ Mackenzie, Kailey, Riley, Sydney, Emma and Zoey, and friends beyond count.

A Rosary Service will be held on September 5th, 2023 at 3:30 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 S Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM 87004. Doc’s ashes will be interred in NY alongside his parents. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to an organization for the benefit for animals.
