Lisa Montano passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the age of 98. She was born on June 3, 1925, in Belen, New Mexico. In 1943, Lisa married Eugenio C. Montano and eventually moved to Albuquerqu­e,

NM. She was the second oldest child and was preceded in death by her sisters: Jenny, Nora, and Laura; brothers: Isaac, Talo, Louis, and Ernie. She is survived by her youngest sister, Alvina. In addition, Lisa is survived by her children, Cecelia, husband Gilbert: Jake, wife Jennifer: daughter, Margie; son, Edward; and foster son, Duke. Her grandchild­ren include James, wife, Helanda: Evan, wife, Janet: Mario, wife, Jonna: and Dominic: and great-grandchild­ren: Lisa, Zia, Rio, Pierre and Damar.

Lisa retired from Los Lunas Training School and spoke lovingly about the patients. She had deep, religious beliefs and participat­ed in Bible studies at her beloved church, El Buen Samaritano. Almost all family and friends benefited, at one time or another, from her unselfish acts. Most enjoyed her cooking, particular­ly, her delicious red and green chili. Lisa’s famous Christmas cookies were loved by all! The family wishes to thank Alyssa, Veronica, and Dina, Lisa’s nurses from Hospice of New Mexico, as well as BeeHive Rio Rancho Assisted Living, especially Jessica, Casarah, and Leah.

Lisa’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10:00 a .m., El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 700 Granite Ave. NW Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico 87102. Lisa will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Contributi­ons may be made to El Buen Samaritano Church in Lisa’s name.
