Santa Fe Pro Musica announces 2024-25 season

Santa Fe Pro Musica has announced its 2024–2025 season, running from September through May. The concerts will take place at the Lensic Performing Arts Center, 211 W. San Francisco St.; St. Francis Auditorium in the New Mexico Museum of Art, 107 W. Palace Ave.; and at First Presbyteri­an Church, 208 Grant Ave.; all in Santa Fe.

In addition to their string quartet series, holiday Bach festival and Baroque Holy Week concerts, artistic director Colin Jacobsen has also announced the group’s orchestra concerts. The orchestra series will include five featured artists as both soloists and composers — Syrian clarinetis­t Kinan Azmeh, Mexican singer Magos Herrera, violinist Colin Jacobsen, Wu Man (pipa) and shakuhachi player Kojiru Umezaki.

The season also features a variety of educationa­l and social events: lectures, demonstrat­ions, masterclas­ses, youth concerts and post-concert dinners and receptions with the artists.

Concert: “I Hear America Singing,” Sunday, Sept. 29, Lensic Performing Arts Center. Featuring violin and leader Colin Jacobsen, singer and songwriter Magos Herrera, and conductor David Felberg; music by Vivaldi, Herrera, Walt Whitman and Gabriela Lena Frank.

Fall Orchestra Concert: “The Art of the Concerto Grosso,” Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10, First Presbyteri­an Church of Santa Fe. Featuring violin and leader Colin Jacobsen, Syrian clarinetis­t and composer Kinan Azmeh, and guitarist Kyle Sanna; music by Vivaldi, Azmeh, Scarlatti, Bloch.

Winter Orchestra Concert: “Mozart’s Birthday & Chinese New Year,” Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, and Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, St. Francis Auditorium in the New Mexico Museum of Art. Featuring violin and leader Colin Jacobsen and Wu Man, pipa; music by Mozart, Lou Harrison, Wu Man.

Spring Orchestra Concert: “The Lark Ascending,” Saturday, March 15, 2025, and Sunday, March 16, 2025, St. Francis Auditorium in the New Mexico Museum of Art. Featuring violin and leader Colin Jacobsen, Kojiru Umezaki (shakuhachi), conductor David Felberg and composer Raven Chacon’s “Voiceless Mass;” music by Mendelssoh­n, Umezaki, Jacobsen, Dvorák, Raven Chacon, Vaughan Williams.

Season Orchestra Finale: “Appalachia­n Spring,” Sunday, May 4, 2025, Lensic Performing Arts Center. Featuring violin and leader Colin Jacobsen and conductor laureate Thomas O’Connor; music by Jacobsen, Gabriela Ortiz, Copland.
