Finance Authority hires deputy director
Fernando Martinez Jr., a policy and infrastructure expert, has been tapped as the next deputy director for the New Mexico Finance Authority.
Martinez has more than 30 years experience working in energy, mining and reclamation and water fields, according to the NMFA. He will oversee operational initiatives and work with policymakers and external partners. He started on April 1. Martinez previously was the executive director of the New Mexico Renewable Energy Transmission Authority. He directed, managed and planned the right-ofentry, land acquisition, financing and construction of multi-billion-dollar electric transmission and storage facilities throughout the state.
During his time at RETA, hundreds of miles of high-voltage electric transmission lines were built throughout the state, according to NMFA.
“We’re very excited to have Fernando on board at NMFA,” said Marquita Russel, CEO of NMFA. “The skills and experience he brings will help the organization tremendously as we continue our existing programs, implement new programs, and look forward to other opportunities to benefit the state of New Mexico.”
Martinez is originally from Taos and graduated from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
