THE WORLD ACCORDING TO EMILIANO PONZI
There is a famous Italian illustrator and designer and who lives between Milan and New York and is considered one of the greatest in the world. Perhaps not everyone knows his name, but the works of Emiliano Ponzi have won the eyes and hearts of millions of people through the pages of countless publications. Born in 1978 in Emilia and Milanese by adoption, he made his international debut in 2008 in Savanah, Georgia, with his first solo show. His style full of colour and vitality over the years has won the attention of brands such as Armani, Bulgari, Gucci, Ferrari, as well as newspapers such as the New York
Times, Le Monde, The New Yorker, to the point he’s considered one of the best illustrators of his generation.
His images are bold and develop a unique narrative through the thoughtful use of line, repetitions, compositions and conceptual metaphors that have earned him many awards, including the Young Guns Award from the New York
Art Directors Club, the Gold Cube from The Art Directors Club of New York and several awards from the Society of Illustrators in New York.
“10 × 10”, his first monograph, was published by Corraini in 2011 and sold out in both the first and second editions. Penguin Books chose to celebrate its 80th anniversary with “The Penguin’s Journey” (2015) and the MOMA in New
York published its “The Big Map of the New York Subway” in 2018.
And all this is just a taste of the multiple evolutions of work always in balance between art, word and image.
