OIL PAINTERS OF AMERICA’S 27TH ANNUAL NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION
The Oil Painters of America descends on Steamboat Springs for its annual National Juried Exhbiition.
Steamboat Springs, Colorado, located on the picturesque Yampa River, often entices artists to the region to paint is mountainous terrain. The city has also become a hub for collectors to visit fine art galleries and the Steamboat Art Museum. The museum, which was founded in December 2005, has hosted a number of its own exhibitions throughout its years in operation as well as shows for national art organizations.
June 1 through September 3, the Oil Painters of America will present its 27 th annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils at the institution. On view will be more than 215 juried paintings from Associate and Signature members of the group. Their pieces are done in array of styles, which spans from loose and fluid impressionism to detailed and percise hyperrealism. Also included in the show will be a selection of submitted paintings by Master Signature members of the organization.
Among the highlights of the juried pieces
are an interior by Michele Usibelli; seascapes and maritime-themed works from Trish Savides and Katie Dobson Cundiff; landscapes by Rita Roberts and Tony D’Amico; still lifes from Steve Creighton and Gary Young; figuratives by Susan Brabeau, Paul Cheng and Frances Pampeyan; and equine art from Sonja Caywood.
Kicking off the National Juried Exhibition is an opening reception at the museum on June 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. Immediately following is the awards ceremony, from 8:15 to 9:30 p.m., at the nearby Chief Theater. This year’s show will be judged by Craig Tennant OPAM, who will select winners in a number of categories including a $25,000 Best of Show. Also during the awards ceremony will be the announcement of any newly appointed Signature and Master Signature members.
