American Art Collector

Pages Filled

-

When we started this magazine nearly 15 years ago people greeted our enthusiasm for contemporary realism and painting with a common concern—how will you find enough artists to cover to publish an issue every single month. Well, now, 174 issues later, the reverse is true. The difficulty is finding more pages to cover all the shows, fairs and events happening every month.

It seems to be such an exciting moment for art. In this issue alone, we have major feature stories on such wonderful painters as Brad Kunkle, Joseph Todorovitch and Tom and T.M. Nicholas. Last issue, we had major features on Nick Alm, Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso and Kenny Harris. And just wait until you see what we have planned for May! It just keeps getting better and better.

With so many wonderful artists making work and being shown in galleries across the country, we feel that there is no time like the present to step up and become a part of all this. In fact, in our January issue, we had über-collectors Steven Bennett and Elaine Melotti Schmidt chronicle their journeys to Art Basel in Miami, where they encountered more realism—especially works done by women—than they had ever encountered. In Miami! At Art Basel! The epicenter for ultracontemporary art. So, as you can see, it’s happening now.

Get involved. Go to shows. Visit museums. Go to art fairs. Visit galleries. Yes, actual brick-and-mortar galleries in places like Scottsdale, New York City, Boston, Santa Fe, Taos, Charleston, Jackson Hole, Atlanta, Naples, Los Angeles, San Francisco or wherever else in America you may be. Look at the artists you see on the walls. Speak with the gallery owners. Find out what styles appeal to you and then acquire a piece for your collection!

And then, of course, let us know about the experience!

P.S. Don’t forget that you can now search additional available images from galleries across the country in our online gallery spaces! Check them out today at www.americanartcollector.com.
