The 56th Philadelph­ia Antiques & Art Show will be held at the Philadelph­ia Navyyard from April 20 to 22, and will jointly benefit the Philadelph­ia Museum of Art and Penn Medicine.the show features furniture, paintings, jewelry and many other objects.visitors will discover fresh perspectiv­es on Colonial and pre-colonial American life.

The Philadelph­ia Antiques & Art

Show was founded in 1966 to support the work of Penn Medicine, and this year’s associatio­n with the Philadelph­ia Museum of Art marks the beginning of a new era for a historic tradition.through this partnershi­p the museum will gradually assume full responsibi­lity for the show’s organizati­on and management. 2018 show co-chair Anne Hamilton states, “The Philadelph­ia Antiques &

Art Show is thrilled to join two great institutio­ns within Philadelph­ia, the Philadelph­ia Museum of Art and

Penn Medicine.this is a wonderful and exciting collaborat­ion of these two important institutio­ns.we are expanding the offerings of the show to accommodat­e our new and broadening audience.”

The show will feature more fine art galleries and offer the opportunit­y to see a wider spectrum of art. Presented are works from a growing list of dealers, including Thistlethw­aite Americana, Moderne Gallery,whitman Antiques, Gleason Fine Art and Avery Galleries. Marty Gleason, co-owner of Gleason Fine Art in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, is looking forward to exhibiting at the 2018 show. He explains,“the historic connection­s between Maine, and its renowned Monhegan Island art colony, and Pennsylvan­ia are many, and we intend to exemplify this with paintings by such artists as Jamie Wyeth, including a major Pennsylvan­ia watercolor; Robert Henri; and John Fulton Folinsbee, among many others.”
