Collector’s Choice
One of the best aspects of this job is hearing from collectors across the country about the new work they’ve added to their collections thanks to American Fine Art Magazine. Primarily, we design our magazine, from editorial to layout, to be utilized.we see American Fine Art Magazine not just as a beautiful and educational magazine about various topics within the field of historic American art, but also as a tool that can be used by collectors to help them navigate and better understand the market for this art we are all so passionate about.
The art market is a general term. For us, it means the buying and selling of historic American art as well as everything else that goes along with this sacred territory, including the personalities, figures, collectors, stories, institutions, dealers, auction houses, galleries, art fairs, events and exhibitions. We are continually in awe of what collectors do on a daily basis.their passion and commitment to American art is truly something to behold and is something that we like to honor on the pages of this magazine.and that is why we include such features as photographic essays of collector homes. It is in these stories where we are able to speak with collectors directly, give a snapshot into their lives and homes and find out what got them started on this collecting journey in the first place. Our photographer, Francis Smith, is constantly roving the country from coast to coast, shooting these homes, speaking with collectors and arranging these features for us with the help of galleries, museums and other market professionals.we hope you enjoy seeing what we have been able to uncover.
As always, we are also friends of the galleries.when we started this magazine there was not one magazine that would preview exhibitions that take place inside galleries.we have changed this.we feel gallery shows are just as important and involve just as much scholarship as many museum shows.we felt this way especially when we attended Questroyal Fine Art’s recent exhibition of works by Ralph Albert Blakelock.this is something that the gallery had been hard at work on—researching, compiling and seeking out paintings—for years.and it showed in the quality and breadth of the exhibition.
We are always looking for such exhibitions to cover. If know about an exhibition at a gallery happening anywhere across the country, please let me know. I can be reached by emailing editor@americanfineartmagazine.com.
P.S.WE are also always on the lookout for new collections to feature. If you know of one please email me as well.
