PEGGY GUGGENHEIM COLLECTION
Through September 3, the Peggy Guggenhiem Collection presents an exhibition that illuminates the relationship between the forms and design of pre-columbian monuments and the art of Joseph Albers. Joseph Albers in Mexico presents a selection of rarely shown early paintings and iconic canvases from Albers’ Homage to the Square and Variant/adobe series, along with works on paper. It also includes a selection of photographs and photocollages created by Albers in response to frequent visits to Mexican archaeological sites from the 1930s and beyond.
