October 23 John Moran Auctioneer­s in Monrovia, California, will host its inaugural Women in Art sale directly preceeding its flagship California & American Fine

Art auction.the sale features approximat­ely 100 pieces by well-known and establishe­d female artists creating paintings, sculpture, textiles, prints and other objects. Modernist painter Helen Hoffman Rousseau, who was based in the Bay Area, will be represente­d by her aerial painting View of Laguna Beach and Hotel, which has a sliver of the pacific Ocean in the upper right corner.the painting, depicting mainly red and brown rooftops, as well as the patchwork land, carries an estimate of $4,000 to $6,000. Mary Bradish Titcomb, an

East Coast native who often traveled west to paint and sketch the light of the region, paints another California view. Her impression­istic work of a cypress tree on the California coast is expected to sell between $4,000 to $6,000.
